Second Outing Class: Learning How to Make Bulgogi

Bulgogi (불고기)? I think if you have ever been to Korea or have Korean acquaintances, you must already know what bulgogi is. It is one of famous Korean food which also called Korean BBQ. It is soooo delicious! It is believed that bulgogi was originated from the Goguryo era and was prepared for the king during the Joseon Dynasty.

Bulgogi literally means "fire meat" in Korean. Bulgogi is made from thin slices of (usually) beef sirloin. To enhance its flavor, before cooking, the beef is marinated with a mixture of soy sauce (간장), sugar (설탕), sesame oil (참기름), garlic (마늘), and other ingredients such as mushroom (버섯) (usually shiitake mushroom). After that, the meat is traditionally grilled or cooked on the frying pan.

In Korea, it is common to see a bulgogi burger menu in McDonalds and Burger King restaurant and bulgogi pizza in Pizza Hut, Domino's Pizza, or other Pizza restaurant. They really love it!

When I was in the second level of my Korean class, I learned how to make bulgogi with all of my friends. The teachers brought us to one of famous cooking school in Daegu downtown.
