The Distribution of ‘Firefighter Robot’ in Fire Station

[Edaily: Ahn Seung Chan Reporter] Fire fighting disaster prevention robot that will be put in a dangerous or hardly accessed fire scene has been distributed in fire stations.
According to the Ministry of Knowledge Economy, on September 28, the Fire Department of Daegu Metropolitan City and Daegu Gyeongbuk Institute of Science and Technology held a testing ceremony of fire fighting disaster prevention robot. They presented 2 robots which are the so-called ‘fire spy robot’ and ‘fire subjugation robot’, which will be distributed in the central fire station of Daegu metropolitan city and other fire stations as well.
The fire spy robot that will be put in the real fire scene is a throw-able portable robot that measures the temperature and the concentration of carbon monoxide (CO), LPG, and other hazardous gases before the firefighters enter the fire scene and monitor the video of the fire scene. It is developed by Hoya Robot.
The fire subjugation robot invented by DRB Fatec is a remote controlled robot that extinguishes fire in underground, small and narrow areas like utility-pipe conduit, collapsed buildings, and other indoor areas that are hard to be entered by the firefighters.
The fire department of Daegu metropolitan city has distributed one set of fire spy robot in each 45 fire stations and one set of fire subjugation robot in central fire station and Dalseo fire station.
In order to commercialize it early, Ministry of Knowledge Economy will supply the robot through a model service project and on this November, there will be tutorial on how to use the robot, robot performance evaluation and inspection of utility of robot.
